DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1. GREAT MONGOL SANDS NATIONAL PARK

Transfer to the airport for the 2-hour flight to Uliastai town, which is the capital of Zavkhan province, on the slopes of the Khangai Mountain. At the airport, your driver picks up us and venture to reach the Lodge of the Sand Mountain Expeditions. Here you will spend the next five nights in a Desert Tent camp, focused on preserving the environment and making a point to making everyone feel at home. It will be our starting point for the several expeditions in the region, uncovering the treasures of the West Gobi.

You will be hosted in fully equipped Luxury Desert Tents bringing the best comfort and Mongolian tradition in a truly amazing location. Each tent has been carefully designed with a private space in mind, opening a direct view of the largest sand dunes of the West. You can then relax from your daily adventure from the comfort of your own authentic tent. The orientation of your tent will allow you to enjoy the most beautiful sunsets of the West in this unique ecosystem. It will be a place to relax and learn about the ongoing journey and spiritual adventures in western Mongolia with Tantric Teacher.

We will explore the Great Mongol Sands National Park, a unique place, and breathtaking landscapes. The park is home to the tallest dunes in Mongolia contained by the high peaks of the West, contrasting with the large open space of the desert. The park host various panoramas of wetlands, grasslands, larch, forests, lakes, sand dune, and rivers. This quiet region is a treasure on its own, one of the most beautiful places in the whole of Mongolia.

Day 2. A DAY IN THE GOBI MOUNTAIN LAKE   

We will take a pleasant hike supported by car to the Great Sand Dune Lake. On the Khangai Mountain range Western plateau, the Ulaagchin Black lake is certainly considered as one of the Jewels of the West Gobi. It is an amazingly beautiful freshwater lake, surrounded by the Tovkhosh Mountain and on its Northern shoreline by the Great Mongol Sand Dunes. Here, the dunes are ending themselves into the water, creating a surreal beach effect.

A gourmet picnic will be set up for our lunch at the shore of the lake, facing lots of beautiful peninsulas and bays that penetrate into the lake water. We shall rest in the area for the afternoon, then take a drive back to the camp. In the evening, we will climb to the nearest hills. The view of the surrounding area from the top of the hill is amazing towards the endless Great Mongol Sand Dunes with the most beautiful sunset in the Gobi. Stay overnight at the Sand Mountain Desert Tent Camp.

Day 3. SAND MOUNTAIN EXPEDITION 

You'll begin your desert expedition by hiking to the enormous sand mountain in the middle of the desert. There, the Mystery of the Sand Mountain camp will welcome us and preparing for you an outdoor exotic meal facing the beauty of the boundless Great Mongol Sand Dunes.

The sheer vastness of the dunes is impressive, but we want to make sure you do more than simply stand in awe, so you'll set out on hiking to traverse the sands through golden walled sand dunes, conquer nearby mountain to watch the sun sink below the horizon. After returning to camp, enjoy a traditional dinner—steamed dumplings with various kinds of salads under the stars. In the evening you are invited to a beautiful Gobi bonfire cocktail party. Later you’ll drift to sleep in your very own luxurious turbo tent.

Day 4. A DAY AMONG NOMADS

In the morning, we will head to nearby nomad families where you experience a nomad lifestyle, closer, socialize with nomads, play with children, and attend daily duties such as milking yak and producing dairy products. Upon arrival our nomads welcoming you with traditional Mongolian hospitality. In this region, we also cooperate with our nomad family for the Argadai and Berhdei Projects which breed the native Mongolian guardian dog Bankhar. Say hello to our dogs. There, we will be happy to be by a friendly local horsemen family, that also contributes to the reintroduction of the native shipper's dog - the Bankhar - to its natural habitat. 

Day 5. TREK IN THE SAND MOUNTAIN RIVER  

The final segment of your sand mountain luxury adventure takes you to a gigantic sand mountain. First, we will head to the Sand Dune River. This is a unique opportunity to see a beautiful gobi river flows through the sands and creates an incredible gobi ecosystem, nourishing small bushes and trees giving wild fruits. Venture deeper into the sand mountain river, where the extremity of the environment is countered by the intense beauty of the rolling dunes and flowing river. Walking barefoot towards the starting point is a little piece of paradise where the river flows under the tall sand mountain. On the way back we explore Gate Rock, a unique rock formation on the summit of the mountain where experience the scenic view of the Great Mongol Sand Dune National Park. 

After lunch, we head to the unique Rocky mountains, a sacred place with its peak culminating at 2,500m (7,464 ft), a perfect place to meditate, and an awesome trek. This is one of the high energetic and spiritual places in Mongolia. It will take up to 3-hour driving, with a short stop at a local village. The Mountain is also very beautiful with its naturally shaped canyons and cliffs and we count 108 caves (an important number in Buddhism traditions) which are famous for having hosted Buddhist meditation practitioners. Upon arrival, we will set our camp, and after having a beautiful outdoor dinner. 

Day 6. THE WESTERN ROCKY MOUNTAINS

After having a beautiful breakfast, we start the hike to the stunning Elephant Valley where we will find the cave which is called Eye of Elephant and enjoy meditation to relax and be with nature. Here we meditate the feeling the manner of elephants and trace our wisdom towards the unmuted power of this giant creature where its power is dedicated to all beings and harmonized with everything. Among these unique rocks, there is a peculiar rock ground that looks like a stone floor made by a human. Here we lie down on our belly to have a special kind of meditation through which we will connect and charge our bodies by the powerful ground energy. 

That evening, you’ll get to experience a private tour of sunset watching from the top of the Rockies with sunset meditation. Enjoy looking for an exciting sunset over the Gobi horizon. Two semipermanent tents along with shared cooking, open-air dining, and bio bathroom-outdoor shower make up this newly opened retreat known simply as Outpost Rockies. You will have a chance to witness some of the most beautiful sunsets happening there. We welcome you for the bonfire night and cocktail party. 

Day 7. TREKKING IN THE SEVEN BOWL AND GATE ROCK VALLEY 

Another exciting and lovely day begins with your soulful and mindful yoga class on the morning of the Rockies. This is an incredible opportunity for you to experience the beautiful Rockies in a unique way with a really incredible sunrise and unforgettable morning yoga. With Rocky mountain and its tall cliffs scenery, we will walk to a nearby canyon and start to explore seven mysterious holes in an expanse of a rocky canyon filled with water inside which is called "Water of Ibex" or mountain goat.

The team at Meditainment wants you to enjoy this unique place to its fullest, finding inner peace in this divine and serene ambiance would be a very new experience reserved for the unmatched natural beauty of the Rockies. After reaching not far the top we set for a beautiful spotted picnic lunch with a spectacular view of the valleys and stunning rocky formations. On the way down we visit the stunning rock formation "Gate Rock" this unique rock formation is like a gateway to this beautiful Gobi Shangrila. We walk back to our campsite and orientation.

Day 8. RETURN BACK TO ULAANBAATAR   

Bid Western Mongolia goodbye this morning. After early morning breakfast, you will be arranged to transfer back to the local airport, where your journey in the countryside ends. It will take a 3-hour drive to get there for the 2-hour flight to Ulaanbaatar for your trip home. At the capital, our driver will pick you up for transfer to your hotel. 

Day 9. RETURN FLIGHTS TOWARDS HOME

Today is the final day in Mongolia after having spent a fulfilling and wonderful journey and exploring some of Mongolia’s best! Our crew will drive you to the airport for your international flight home.

It will take a 3-hour drive to get there for the 2-hour flight to Ulaanbaatar for your trip home. At the capital, our driver will pick you up for transfer to your hotel. 

Day 9

RETURN FLIGHTS TOWARDS HOME

Today is the final day in Mongolia after having spent a fulfilling and wonderful journey and exploring some of Mongolia’s best! Our crew will drive you to the airport for your international flight home. 

Be aware of this horse riding tour for reasonably fit travelers, and advanced to expert riders only. You will need to prepare for horseriding in large open landscapes, with various types of terrain: on sand dunes, crossing rivers, progressing through forested and rocky areas.

You shall keep in mind and be able to

  • Comfortably mount and dismount without help (mounting block)
  • Cover the entire duration of the ride, be endurant and show the necessary skills to trot with the group for 9+ days covering 15-35 km per day
  • The Mongolian horses, despite being short-size full-grown horses and not ponies, can carry a person of 1,95m/6*4 tall, and up to 95 kg/210 lbs. Beyond, we would not recommend this adventure both for comfort and safety 
  • Ride with confidence in a wide variety of terrains (sand, rocks, crossing rivers, in-even terrains)
